“He is the big cheese”是說這個人是個“大奶酪”？

cheese 奶酪，對于吃貨來說再熟悉不過了。

但如果老外說某人是“big cheese”，可千萬別理解為“大奶酪”，這個cheese可不是你愛吃的那個cheese，如果搞錯的話那就太尷尬啦~

這里并不是指“大奶酪”，而是指“大人物”。

The big cheese describes any person in a position of importance. Most often, it is used to describe a boss at work. Not just any boss could be the big cheese—a middle manager would not have enough leadership clout. This phrase is reserved for the top executives in an organization.

Big cheese實際上是用來形容在重要位置上的人的。更多時候，它常用在形容公司老板。當(dāng)然，也并不是所有的老板可以被稱為big cheese，如果他的領(lǐng)導(dǎo)能力或者掌權(quán)能力并不是很好，也不會用到這個短語。Big cheese是專門指組織中的非常有能力的重要人員的。
