“約在10點”不是wait for you at 10,怪不得別人直接爽約了

We'll expect you at 10.

We'll see you at 10.

Be sure to come on Friday evening. I'll be expecting you then.

wait on him 是等他嗎?

wait on sb

to do everything for someone so that that person does not have to do anything for himself or herself

While she was pregnant, her husband waited on her hand and foot (= did everything for her).

wait for the red light≠等紅燈

wait for the red light to change

wait for the green light

wait for the red light to change 等紅燈

wait for the green light 等紅燈

stop by the red light

因為wait的本意是等待人或事的出現(xiàn),介詞for后接其等待出現(xiàn)的對象,我們是等紅燈變綠燈,所以正確的說法應(yīng)該是wait for the green light或wait for the red light to change。

例:

If you want to cross the road, you must wait for the green light.
