“逃課”不是“escape from the class”，兩者本質(zhì)上是不一樣的

fail the exam

考試不及格

如果想直譯“考試不及格”可能會(huì)感覺很復(fù)雜，其實(shí)它的英語(yǔ)表達(dá)很簡(jiǎn)單，因?yàn)楫?dāng)fail與exam或test等詞連用時(shí)就有“沒通過”的意思，所以可以用fail the exam來表示。

Tom failed math in the final exam.

這次期末考試湯姆的數(shù)學(xué)沒及格。

對(duì)話

A:Mike,how about your final exam?

邁克，期末考試考得怎么樣?

B:Oh,I failed history.

噢，我歷史沒及格。

“考試不及格”還可以說成flunk[fl??k]the exam

cram school /kræm/

補(bǔ)習(xí)班

“補(bǔ)習(xí)班”通常指學(xué)生為了應(yīng)付考試而參加的課外強(qiáng)化訓(xùn)練課程，cram的意思是“(考前)臨時(shí)抱佛腳;強(qiáng)化學(xué)習(xí)”，正好符合補(bǔ)習(xí)班的特征，所以用cram school來表示“補(bǔ)習(xí)班”。

Tom's mom chose English for him in the cram school.

媽媽為湯姆選了英語(yǔ)補(bǔ)習(xí)班。

死記硬背

“死記硬背”跟dead“死的”和hard“硬的”可沒有關(guān)系，它指的是機(jī)械記憶，在英文中可以用rote表示。

莉莉過去靠死記硬背學(xué)英語(yǔ)。

A:It's really difficult for me to learn English.

學(xué)習(xí)英語(yǔ)對(duì)我來說太難了。

B:You should not memorize words by rote.

你不應(yīng)該靠死記硬背來記憶單詞。

此外，a perfect score和a maximum score也可以指“滿分”

逃課

“逃課”可不能直譯為escape from the class，而要用play hooky來表示。

They played hooky and went for a picnic last Friday.

他們上周五逃課出去野餐了。

你們不該那樣做的。
