首付

“首付”就是“首先支付的款項”，在英語中用down payment來表達，其中down指分期付款“第一期的”，是個形容詞，而payment指“付款”，合起來就是我們所說的“首付”。

Tom is still not able to make the down payment on the house.

湯姆還沒有能力支付房子的首付。

對話

A:How much is the down payment?

首付款是多少?

B:30% of the total.

全款的30%。

與“支付款項”有關(guān)的短語還有：

余額

Jack checks his bank balance every month.

balance除了可以表示“賬戶余額”外

還有“結(jié)欠，差額”之意，且表達這兩個意思時多用單數(shù)。

轉(zhuǎn)(賬)

這里的“轉(zhuǎn)”不是“轉(zhuǎn)彎”的意思，所以不能直譯為turn，其意思是“轉(zhuǎn)移”，要用transfer。

Mr.Smith transferred 5000 yuan into my account.

史密斯先生將5000元錢轉(zhuǎn)到了我的賬上。

對話

A:I'd like to transfer $1000 to my savings account.

我想轉(zhuǎn)1000美元到我的儲蓄賬戶中。

strapped /stræpt/

手頭緊

“手頭緊”與hand“手”和head“頭”都沒有關(guān)系，它的意思是“拮據(jù)的，缺錢的”，英語中可以用strapped來表示。

Tom was fired and he's a bit strapped.

湯姆被解雇了，現(xiàn)在手頭有點緊。

對話

A:Could you lend me 200 yuan?I'm strapped recently.

你能借我200塊錢嗎?我最近手頭很緊。

B:No problem.

沒問題。

in low water也可以表示“拮據(jù)”

或者直接說：

I'm short of money recently.

我最近缺錢。

in the red

虧損

想直譯“虧損”可不容易，它實際的意思與“赤字”差不多，都指支出大于收入，所以可以用in the red來表示。

Mr.Smith's company is in the red.

史密斯先生的公司虧損了。

對話

A:How is your company?

你的公司怎么樣?

B:Unfortunately,we're in the red now.

很不幸，現(xiàn)在正虧損呢。

此外，in deficit /?def?s?t/ 也可以指“虧損”

而in the black則可以表示“盈利，有盈余”。
