“成氣候”的英文表達(dá)可不是become climate，這個(gè)詞用來比喻有成就或有發(fā)展前途，所以在英語中常用make good來表示。

You can never make any good.

你永遠(yuǎn)也成不了氣候。

A:I think Tom will not make any good.

我認(rèn)為湯姆成不了什么氣候。

B:I think so,too.

我也這樣認(rèn)為。

“成氣候”這一短語常用于否定句中

逞能

“逞能”的實(shí)際意思是“炫耀自己的能力”，尤其用來形容做自己能力范圍之外的事，可以用show off one's skill表示，其中show off的意思是“炫耀”，skill指“能力”。

湯姆就是愛在工作中逞能。

抽空

“抽空”的意思就是“從忙碌的日程中抽出時(shí)間”，即take time out of one's busy schedule。

“抽空”還可以表達(dá)為“把自己從繁忙中解脫出來”

所以可以用free oneself表示

如：

出洋相

“出洋相”常用來形容人因?yàn)闊o知、失誤等鬧出笑話，在別人看來就像演戲一樣熱鬧有趣，所以可用create a scene表示。

As a new comer,Jim creates scenes now and then.

吉姆是新來的，時(shí)不時(shí)就會(huì)出洋相。

對話

A:I can finish the task on time.

我能按時(shí)完成任務(wù)。

B:Don't create a scene.You can't finish.

別出洋相了。你完成不了的。

“出洋相”還可以說成make a spectacle/fool of oneself

比如：

Tom wanted to show off his skills but made a fool of himself.

湯姆想逞能，可是卻出了洋相。

翻臉

“翻臉”的意思是“生氣”，用英語可以簡單地說成go off

Jack went off all of a sudden.

杰克說翻臉就翻臉了。

B:I don't know.But don't bother him.He went off all of a sudden just now.

不知道。不過別惹他。他剛才說翻臉就翻臉了。
