“暈車、暈船”用英語怎么說？

作為重度患者，我先默默舉個手

這是與交通有關的一種“病癥”

今天就來簡單聊聊令人頭大的交通問題

motion sickness

暈(車、船等)

通常“頭暈”的英文表達是dizzy

但是由乘坐交通工具而引起的“頭暈”

即暈車、暈船等，其英文表達是motion sickness

在醫(yī)學上叫做“暈動癥”

I had motion sickness when I travelled by ship last time.

我上次坐船旅行的時候暈船了。

對話

A:Do you know how to treat motion sickness?

你知道該怎么緩解暈車嗎?

B:You can ask Doctor Zhang.

你可以問問張醫(yī)生。

由不同的交通工具引起的頭暈有各自具體的說法

比如：

car sickness“暈車”

sea sickness“暈船”

air sickness“暈機”

avoid the traffic jam

避開塞車

Taking this way can avoid the traffic jam.

走這條路可以避開塞車。

對話

A:How can I avoid the traffic jam in the morning?

我早上怎樣才能避開塞車呢?

B:You can choose another way.

你可以選擇另一條路。

其中的avoid還可以換成escape

即escape the traffic jam

speeding

超速行駛

“超速行駛”就是以超出規(guī)定的速度行駛

在英語中用的是speeding這個詞

Speeding on the highway is very dangerous.

在高速公路上超速行駛是很危險的。

你們剛剛在談論什么?

B:Jim was fined for speeding yesterday.

吉姆昨天因為超速行駛被罰了款。

與“超速”相關的“限速”用英語表示是speed limit

Do you know the speed limit of this road?

你知道這條路的限速嗎?

“遵守限速”可以說keep within the speed limit

或者keep to the speed limit

fine

罰款

雖然有“款”字，但英文表達中并沒有money

而是用fine來表示

Bob was fined for drunk driving.

鮑勃由于酒后駕車被罰款了。

對話

A:I was fined 200 yuan for speeding.

我由于超速駕駛被罰了200元錢。

B:You should obey the traffic regulations.

你應該遵守交通規(guī)則。

與“罰款”相關的“處罰，刑罰”用英語表達是penalty

He incurred a ten-second penalty in the first round.

他在第一輪受到停賽十秒鐘的處罰。

發(fā)生意外
 

You can have an accident easily if you drive carelessly.

如果粗心駕駛的話，很容易發(fā)生意外。

對話

A:Where is John?

約翰在哪里?

B:He had an accident yesterday and now he is in hospital.

他昨天發(fā)生了意外，現(xiàn)在在醫(yī)院呢。

“發(fā)生意外”用英語還可以表示為meet with an accident

She had a foreboding that he might meet with an accident.

她預感他可能會遭到意外事故。

hit the brakes

緊急剎車
 

我們知道“緊急的”用英語說是urgent

但是“緊急剎車”的英文表達中并沒有這個詞

它用的是短語hit the brakes

Mary had to hit the brakes to avoid hitting that little dog.

瑪麗為了不撞到那只小狗不得不緊急剎車。

對話

A:If the driver had not hit the brakes,we would have had an accident.如果司機沒有緊急剎車，我們就發(fā)生意外了。

B:Thank goodness!

謝天謝地!

“緊急剎車”還可以表示為slam on the brakes

如果想要表示“剎車失靈了”

可以說The brakes didn't work.

或者The brakes failed.
