“green hand”是“綠手”？這樣翻譯可就容易鬧出誤會(huì)了

先來(lái)說(shuō)說(shuō)這個(gè)詞的出處：

在英國(guó)，船是很重要的交通工具

日常保養(yǎng)船只時(shí)

會(huì)用綠色的油漆把船身漆上

一個(gè)不熟練的油漆工，經(jīng)常會(huì)把綠油漆沾到手上

此后，就用“green hand”來(lái)表示“新手”

也就是中文里所說(shuō)的“菜鳥(niǎo)”

 

He is a green hand in surfing the Internet.

對(duì)于上網(wǎng)，他簡(jiǎn)直是一竅不通。

也可以用“new”來(lái)表示“新”，不過(guò)不會(huì)說(shuō)“new hand”

正確表達(dá)是：I’m new at this. 意思是在某方面是新手，還不太熟悉。


或者：

I'm new here. 我是新來(lái)的。
