條條大路通羅馬，英語中“Road”的說法～

情歌天后梁靜茹的一曲《路》道出了人們總會在生命中經(jīng)過許多條路。有些為自己追逐，有些為別人停駐。
其實(shí)人生遠(yuǎn)不止一條“Road”，在英文中關(guān)于“路”也有很多種不同的說法，讓我們邊走邊學(xué)吧～
　

1. Road：路，公路，馬路，道路

　　You’ll see the library a bit further up the road.

　　沿這條路再往前走一點(diǎn)就能看到圖書館。

　　
2. Street：街道
 

　　Their aim is to raise a million dollars to get the homeless off the streets.

　　他們的目的是募集100萬美元以使無家可歸者不再流浪街頭。

　　
3. Avenue：特指南北方向的街道

　　Fifth Avenue美國紐約的第五大道

　　注意：

　　road ,street 與avenue都有路的意思，但它們的含義各有不同：
 

　　Street主要是指村落或都市中兩邊有房屋的街道或馬路。

　　Road常指城市或鄉(xiāng)村之間可供車輛或行人通過的寬闊而又平坦的大路，這種路兩旁有無房屋皆可。

　　Avenue 主要指寬闊而繁華的林蔭大街，兩旁有著華麗的住宅或林立的建筑物。Road一般是南北向，avenue一般是東西向。

　　
4. Alley：胡同，小巷

　　She found the side alley where the stage door was located.

　　她找到了劇場后門所在的小巷。

　　
5. Path：小路、軌道

　　Follow the path along the river to the bridge.

　　沿著河邊的小路走到那座橋。

　　
6. Circle：圓形道路，比如開車會經(jīng)過的環(huán)島

　　If the passenger transport capacity of the hub is restricted by the capacity of section or key point, circle line of hub may be built for the return of wagons.

　　如樞紐客運(yùn)能力受區(qū)間和咽喉能力限制時，可修建樞紐環(huán)線，讓貨車迂迥。

　　
7. Crescent /?kr?s?nt/ ：半圓形的街道

　　The address is 44 Colville Crescent.

　　地址是科爾維爾新月街44號。

　　
8. Parkway：主干道，中間或兩旁有草地和樹木的林蔭大道

　　One parkway and three expressways meet here, andclose to 300, 000 vehicles a day are forced to reduce speed while navigating anetwork of tightly curved ramps.

　　一條景觀道路和三條快速路在此交匯，近30萬輛機(jī)動車每天被迫在急轉(zhuǎn)的彎道路網(wǎng)中減速慢行。

　　
9. Byway：遠(yuǎn)離主干道，次要的偏僻道路

　　To ease roadway congestion, a new byway is under construction, and plans are in place to clean up the sewage-tainted waters farther offshore.

　　為了緩解交通擁擠，一條新的輔道在正在修建，還計劃對離海岸稍遠(yuǎn)處，被生活污水弄臟的海水進(jìn)行凈化。

　　
10. Lane：單車道、小路

　　The truck was travelling at 20 mph in the slow lane.

11. Speedway：高速公路、賽車跑道

　　There's the esplanade where we walked that windy day.
