Todd: So, Asako, we are talking about your time in Alaska. Now you are from a major city in Japan, correct?

托德：麻子，我們來(lái)聊聊你在阿拉斯加州的生活。你來(lái)自日本一個(gè)大城市，對(duì)吧?

Asako: That's right. Nagoya.

麻子：沒(méi)錯(cuò)，我來(lái)自名古屋。

Todd: Now, Nagoya is a very big city.

托德：名古屋是一座非常大的城市。

Asako: Very big. Two million people.

麻子：非常大。有兩百萬(wàn)人口。

Todd: So, what was it like going from a big city in Japan to way out in the wilderness in Alaska?

托德：那從日本的大城市搬到阿拉斯加州的原野生活，是什么感覺(jué)?

Asako: Do you know what? A lot of people think I had problems, many problems, but actually I did not. I just loved it. I did not have any problems.

麻子：你知道嗎?許多人認(rèn)為我會(huì)遇到問(wèn)題，會(huì)遇到很多問(wèn)題，但其實(shí)并不是這樣。我喜歡阿拉斯加州。我沒(méi)有遇到任何問(wèn)題。

Todd: So maybe, by nature, you are actually more of a nature person.

托德：可能從本性上來(lái)說(shuō)你更喜歡大自然。

Asako: Exactly. So when... actually when I had problems, was when I came back to Japan, back to the big city in Nagoya. Then I had a lot of problems.

麻子：沒(méi)錯(cuò)。其實(shí)我回到日本，回到大城市名古屋以后，倒遇到了問(wèn)題。我回來(lái)以后產(chǎn)生了很多問(wèn)題。

Todd: You missed the wilderness?

托德：你想念原野的生活?

Asako: I missed silence. Quiet. I... just too many, too many sounds in the city. Even when you're sitting in your room, you still hear some sort of sounds, noise, surrounded by some sort of noise all the time, and I just couldn't stand it. It took me a long time to get used to.

麻子：我想念那份寂靜和安靜。城市里有太多的噪音。即使在自己的房間里，還是會(huì)聽(tīng)到各種聲音、各種噪音，周圍一直有嗓音，我實(shí)在忍受不了這點(diǎn)。我花了很長(zhǎng)時(shí)間才適應(yīng)。

Todd: You know that's kind of interesting because I grew up in a small town and then I moved and I lived some major cities: London, you know, Tokyo, and I lived in Bangkok and when I would come home from being in Bangkok, Thailand, I was so used to having people around all the time, it was really hard to have too much space.

托德：我覺(jué)得這很有意思，我在一個(gè)小城鎮(zhèn)長(zhǎng)大，然后搬到倫敦和東京這樣的大城市生活，我還在曼谷生活過(guò)，我離開(kāi)泰國(guó)曼谷回家以后，我發(fā)現(xiàn)我非常習(xí)慣那種周圍擠滿人的生活，有太多空間反而更不適應(yīng)。

Asako: Interesting.

麻子：有意思。

Todd: It was too much, like I missed having action and noise around me all the time.

托德：我想念那種被各種事和噪音圍繞的生活。

Asako: So you are a city person?

麻子：所以你是城市人?

Todd: You know, it's funny, oddly enough, I grew up on a farm and in a small town and I actually think, Yes, I am more of a city person.

托德：這很有趣，說(shuō)來(lái)奇怪，我在一個(gè)小城鎮(zhèn)的農(nóng)場(chǎng)長(zhǎng)大，可是我認(rèn)為我更適應(yīng)城市的生活。

Asako: Wow.

麻子：哇。

Todd: Maybe it us just the difference.

托德：也許這是我們的不同之處。

Asako: Maybe so. Maybe. Yeah.

麻子：也許吧，可能是。

Todd: So would you like to move back to Alaska some day?

托德：你想搬回阿拉斯加州生活嗎?

Asako: I would love to. It could be a little difficult because it's very cold in the winter. But I would love to. I miss nature.

麻子：我很想。不過(guò)有點(diǎn)難，阿拉斯加的冬天太冷了。不過(guò)我想回去，我想念大自然。

Todd: Now do you do the really rough, Alaskan things, like hunting, fishing, things like that?

托德：你在阿拉斯加的時(shí)候有試過(guò)打獵、釣魚之類的傳統(tǒng)活動(dòng)嗎?

Asako: I have tried. I couldn't catch any.... well, fish yes, but I couldn't shoot anything, but I tried.

麻子：我試過(guò)。但是我沒(méi)有釣到魚，而且打獵的時(shí)候也什么都沒(méi)打到，不過(guò)我的確試過(guò)。

Todd: You tried to shoot?

托德：你試過(guò)打獵?

Asako: Shoot. I did.

麻子：對(duì)，打獵。

Todd: You didn't hit anything?

托德：你什么都沒(méi)打到?

Asako: I didn't.

麻子：對(duì)。

Todd: Really!

托德：真的嗎?

Asako: I was really bad.

麻子：我槍法太差了。

Todd: Well, I am sure, out there, there's some animal that's very thankful you're not good at hunting.

托德：我確定，那里的動(dòng)物一定很感謝你并不擅長(zhǎng)打獵。

Asako: I'm sure they were.

麻子：我也是這么認(rèn)為的。
