Joel: So, Mitchell, you talked about surfing. You surf of course. Do you have any good surf stories?

喬爾：米切爾，你之前談到了沖浪。當(dāng)然你會(huì)沖浪。你有沒有有趣的沖浪經(jīng)歷?

Mitchell: Well, one day I was surfing and my friend said, "Oh, I see a shark" so I'm just like, "Right, you didn't see no shark" so you know we keep on surfing and next thing you know, we're surfing some more and it was like, "Ah, Mitch. I promise I saw a shark. I saw a shark". I was like, "Man, you're lying. Just shut up" you know cause my friends tend tojoke a lot when they're surfing you know, cause we like to enjoy. So we're surfing and the next thing you know, we hear this siren coming, and like 200 yards away, we see this girl like getting out of the water like franticly. It's like, next thing you know, since we go out, we see an ambulance, something happened, like commotion, and everyone's going "Oh, this girl got bitten by a shark."

米切爾：有一天我正在沖浪時(shí)，我朋友突然說(shuō)：“哦，我看到鯊魚了”，可當(dāng)時(shí)我說(shuō)：“你沒有看到鯊魚”，所以我們又繼續(xù)沖浪了，一段時(shí)間之后，我朋友說(shuō)：“米切爾。我確定我真的看到了一只鯊魚了。我看到鯊魚了。”可是我還是不信：“嘿，你在說(shuō)謊。閉嘴吧”，因?yàn)槲遗笥褌兘?jīng)常在沖浪的時(shí)候開玩笑，我們喜歡這樣。所以我們繼續(xù)沖浪，然后我們聽到了警報(bào)聲，就在離我們200碼遠(yuǎn)的地方，一個(gè)女孩慌亂地從水里出來(lái)。我們上岸后看到了一輛救護(hù)車，肯定是發(fā)生什么事了，那里有一陣騷動(dòng)，我們聽到大家在說(shuō)：“這個(gè)女孩被鯊魚咬傷了”。

Joel: She actually got bitten by a shark.

喬爾：她真的被鯊魚咬傷了嗎?

Mitchell: She actually got bitten.

米切爾：對(duì)，她的確被咬傷了。

Joel: Oh, my god.

喬爾：哦，天哪。

Mitchell: Well, not bad but like bit her toes or something. It's a reef shark. They're not very big but they tend to swim close to shore and in the rocks, cause like, a lot of people, they, we surf by the reef because the waves break nicely but it is also dangerous because you have the chance of hitting you head on the reef and getting scrapes and cuts.

米切爾：情況不太糟，她被咬傷的地方好像是腳趾。咬傷她的是一只礁石鯊，這種鯊魚個(gè)頭不太大，一般在海岸附近和巖石間活動(dòng)，有很多人會(huì)在礁石附近沖浪，因?yàn)槟抢锖苋菀灼评耍贿^(guò)那里同樣非常危險(xiǎn)，因?yàn)槟愕念^有可能會(huì)撞到礁石，或者會(huì)被擦傷。

Joel: What other kinds of wildlife do you see in the ocean? I surfed in California and they have like, Pelicans and sometimes dolphins.

喬爾：你在海里還見過(guò)什么野生生物?我曾在加利福尼亞沖過(guò)浪，那里有鵜鶘，有時(shí)還能看到海豚。

Mitchell: Yeah, we see dolphins, we see manta rays, We see a lot of turtles.

米切爾：嗯，我們也看到過(guò)海豚，我們還看到過(guò)蝠鲼和很多烏龜。

Joel: Turtles, like the green sea turtles.

喬爾：烏龜，是綠海龜嗎?

Mitchell: Green sea turtles. Like back in the days, it was legal to eat turtles,

Joel: So, the what?

喬爾：什么?

Mitchell: It was legal to eat turtles.

米切爾：以前吃烏龜是合法的。

Joel: Oh, legal to eat turtles.

喬爾：哦，吃烏龜曾經(jīng)是合法的。

Mitchell: So people made like turtle soup, cause the meats like real tender, juicy, white, but they kind of got like extinct so they made a law saying that you can't eat turtles so now, right now, you can see a lot of turtles when you're surfing or in general in you're in Waikiki beach, some of those famous beach, you can see a lot of turtles.

米切爾：人們以前會(huì)做烏龜湯，烏龜肉是白色的，而且鮮嫩多汁，不過(guò)烏龜已經(jīng)瀕臨滅絕，所以他們制訂了一項(xiàng)法律禁止食用烏龜，所以現(xiàn)在你在沖浪時(shí)能看到很多烏龜，一般來(lái)說(shuō)，在威基基海灘等一些著名的海灘能看到很多烏龜。

Joel: By the way, what kind of board do you surf on, a long board or.

喬爾：順便問(wèn)一下，你沖浪時(shí)用的是哪種沖浪板?是長(zhǎng)板還是其他的?

Mitchell: A long board or short board, or tankers, like it matters how the wave is, where in, what part of the beach I'm at. I usually surf, like 7-foot boards. Short boards or long boards.

米切爾：長(zhǎng)板、短板還有小長(zhǎng)板都會(huì)用，這要取決于海浪的種類還有我在海灘的哪個(gè)地方。一般我會(huì)用7英尺長(zhǎng)的沖浪板，短板或長(zhǎng)板。

Joel: So you check the weather forecast before you go?

喬爾：你沖浪前會(huì)查天氣預(yù)報(bào)嗎?

Mitchell: yeah, call the surf hotline, the surf hotline saying, where's good, how strong the trade winds are, how deep the buoys are.

米切爾：會(huì)，我會(huì)打沖浪熱線，沖浪熱線會(huì)告訴你哪里適合沖浪、信風(fēng)的強(qiáng)度和浮標(biāo)的深度。

Joel: I see. Oh, you make me want to go surfing. Let's stop.
