Topic1 China's top legislature reviews amendment on crime of corruption China's top legislature has started its five-and-half day session this week to consider draft laws and amendments including a draft amendment to the Criminal Law.

According to the draft amendment, penalties on corruption cases will no longer be measured on the basis of the sum of bribes or embezzlement involved.

Rather, they will be measured in accordance with the severity of the crime with the heaviest punishment being the death penalty.
