微軟，是一家總部位于美國(guó)的跨國(guó)科技公司，也是世界PC(Personal Computer，個(gè)人計(jì)算機(jī))機(jī)軟件開發(fā)的先導(dǎo)，由比爾·蓋茨與保羅·艾倫創(chuàng)辦于1975年，公司總部設(shè)立在華盛頓州的雷德蒙德(Redmond，鄰近西雅圖)。以研發(fā)、制造、授權(quán)和提供廣泛的電腦軟件服務(wù)業(yè)務(wù)為主。

最為著名和暢銷的產(chǎn)品為Microsoft Windows操作系統(tǒng)和Microsoft Office系列軟件，目前是全球最大的電腦軟件提供商。

微軟在2013年在世界500強(qiáng)企業(yè)排行榜中排名110位，2014年排名第104位[1] 。

2015年1月，在第66屆艾美獎(jiǎng)[2] 上，國(guó)家電視藝術(shù)和科學(xué)學(xué)院為微軟頒發(fā)了“電視功能強(qiáng)化設(shè)備獎(jiǎng)”。2015年7月9日，微軟宣布對(duì)手機(jī)業(yè)務(wù)進(jìn)行根本性重組，同時(shí)表示將削減至7800多個(gè)職位。[3] 2015年10月?lián)绹?guó)CNBC報(bào)道，微軟將在新一輪裁員仲裁撤1000個(gè)崗位。新裁員是在之前宣布的裁員基礎(chǔ)上額外追加的。[4]

微軟于2016年1月12日終止對(duì)IE8、9、10的技術(shù)支持。[5]

2016年6月8日，《2016年BrandZ全球最具價(jià)值品牌百?gòu)?qiáng)榜》公布，微軟排第3名。[6]

2016年6月13日，微軟將以每股 196 美元，合計(jì) 262 億美元的全現(xiàn)金收購(gòu)包括 LinkedIn 公司的全部股權(quán)和凈現(xiàn)金。

Microsoft is one of the best-known companies in the world. Almost everyone uses a Microsoft product. These include the Windows operating systems, Hotmail and MSN, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and the Bing search engine. The Financial Times ranks it as the third largest company on the planet. It has created four billionaires and around 12,000 millionaires among its 93,000 employees. The company was founded by Bill Gates in 1975 and slowly became the number one name in computing. It generates over $50 billion a year in revenues.
