　　雅虎(Yahoo!，NASDAQ：YHOO)是美國著名的互聯(lián)網(wǎng)門戶網(wǎng)站，也是20世紀末互聯(lián)網(wǎng)奇跡的創(chuàng)造者之一。其服務(wù)包括搜索引擎、電郵、新聞等，業(yè)務(wù)遍及24個國家和地區(qū)，為全球超過5億的獨立用戶提供多元化的網(wǎng)絡(luò)服務(wù)。同時也是一家全球性的因特網(wǎng)通訊、商貿(mào)及媒體公司。

　　雅虎是全球第一家提供因特網(wǎng)導航服務(wù)的網(wǎng)站，總部設(shè)在美國加州圣克拉克市，在歐洲、亞太區(qū)、拉丁美洲、加拿大及美國均設(shè)有辦事處。

　　雅虎是最老的“分類目錄”搜索數(shù)據(jù)庫，也是最重要的搜索服務(wù)網(wǎng)站之一 ，在全部互聯(lián)網(wǎng)搜索應用中所占份額達36%左右。所收錄的網(wǎng)站全部被人工編輯按照類目分類。其數(shù)據(jù)庫中的注冊網(wǎng)站無論是在形式上還是內(nèi)容上質(zhì)量都非常高。2003年3月，雅虎完成對Inktomi的收購，成為Google的主要競爭對手之一。

　　雅虎有英、中 、日、韓、法、德、意、西班牙、丹麥等 12種語言版本，各版本的內(nèi)容互不相同。提供目錄、網(wǎng)站及全文檢索功能。目錄分類比較合理，層次深，類目設(shè)置好，網(wǎng)站提要嚴格清楚，網(wǎng)站收錄豐富，檢索結(jié)果精確度較高。

　　2015年雅虎已成為“全球第三大移動廣告公司”。

　　2016年7月25日，美國電信巨頭Verizon(威瑞森)以48億美元收購雅虎核心資產(chǎn)

　　Yahoo! is one of the biggest Internet service companies in the world. It is one of the top search engines and e-mail providers. Yahoo! was founded in 1994 by Jerry Yang and David Filo. They originally named it "Jerry and David's Guide to the World Wide Web" but changed it to "Yahoo!" Officially, ‘Yahoo’ means "Yet Another Hierarchical Officious Oracle". They chose the word because it has a generally understood meaning worldwide. The company has assets valued at $15 billion and employs 15,000 people around the world. The Yahoo! website says the company is very customer focused: “We respect our customers above all else and never forget that they come to us by choice…We listen and respond to our customers and seek to exceed their expectations.”
