國產(chǎn)大片提振2017年中國總票房

China’s film industry received a boost in 2017 after a string of unexpected blockbusters lifted the mainland’s total box office takings 22 per cent year-on-year, up from 2.4 per cent growth in 2016.

一連串意想不到的賣座大片令2017年中國內(nèi)地票房總收入同比增長22%,提振了中國電影業(yè),而2016年的增長率僅為2.4%。

The buoyant box office takings offered a fillip for a domestic film industry that had until recently been written off as over-funded and under-talented, producing big budget flops that were overshadowed by Hollywood blockbusters.

高漲的票房收入令國內(nèi)電影業(yè)振奮,該行業(yè)近年受到差評(píng),被認(rèn)為投資過度、缺乏創(chuàng)意,連續(xù)遭遇票房撲街,比不上好萊塢大片。

Five movies released in 2017 earned enough at the box office to move into the country’s top 10 list of highest grossing movies ever, with four of the five being made in China.

2017年有5部影片取得巨大票房成功,足以使它們躋身于中國史上票房最高的前10部電影之列,這5部影片中有4部為中國出品。

Of these, Wolf Warrior 2 took in Rmb5.68bn this year, more than twice the Rmb2.67bn earned in China by the second highest grossing The Fate of the Furious, and more than 10 per cent of the country’s total 2017 box office takings of Rmb55bn ($8.5bn), according to film website Maoyan.

中國電影信息網(wǎng)站貓眼的數(shù)據(jù)顯示,在上述電影中,《戰(zhàn)狼2》的票房為56.8億元人民幣,超出位居第二的《速度與激情8》(The Fate of the Furious)兩倍多,后者的票房為26.7億元人民幣;《戰(zhàn)狼2》的票房還超過了2017年中國票房總收入的10%。

The story of a lone Chinese commando battling an evil US private military company in Africa, Wolf Warrior 2 has provoked comparisons with the 1980s Hollywood hit series Rambo.

《戰(zhàn)狼2》講述的是一名單槍匹馬的中國特種兵在非洲與一家邪惡的美國私人軍事公司作戰(zhàn)的故事,引發(fā)了人們將其與上世紀(jì)80年代好萊塢賣座影片《第一滴血》(Rambo)系列的比較。

“The success of Wolf Warrior 2 demonstrates the huge potential for local films that can combine Hollywood-style storytelling with Chinese themes and heroes. But most importantly, it needs to deliver entertainment — such as good spectacles and action scenes,” said Joe Fang, head of production for Base Media, a Beijing based production company working with Hollywood-made movies as well as Chinese films.

“《戰(zhàn)狼2》的成功表現(xiàn)出中國本土電影的巨大潛力,也就是把好萊塢式的敘事與中國的主題與英雄結(jié)合起來。但更重要的是,它需要提供娛樂——比如精彩的壯觀場景和動(dòng)作場面,”Base Media的產(chǎn)品總監(jiān)Joe Fang稱,Base Media是一家總部設(shè)在北京的制片公司,與好萊塢電影和中國電影都有合作。

Other locally-made 2017 films that moved into the country’s all time top 10 box office list were Never Say Die, which earned Rmb2.2bn; Kung Fu Yoga, a Jackie Chan thriller about treasure hunting archeologists; and Journey to the West: The Demons Strike Back, based on the Ming dynasty fairy tale of the same name.

其它進(jìn)入中國史上票房10強(qiáng)之列的2017年國產(chǎn)片還有《羞羞的鐵拳》(Never Say Die),票房成績22億元人民幣;《功夫瑜伽》(Kung Fu Yoga),一部由成龍主演的關(guān)于尋寶考古的動(dòng)作喜劇;《西遊伏妖篇》(West: The Demons Strike Back),一個(gè)基于中國明代同名小說改編的故事。

Another hit that is still gaining steam is Youth, a critically acclaimed portrayal of a Chinese military art troupe during the 1970s that has grossed Rmb743m since its December 15 release.

另一部仍在形成勢頭的熱門影片是《芳華》(Youth),這部得到高度評(píng)價(jià)的影片講述了上世紀(jì)70年代一個(gè)中國軍隊(duì)文工團(tuán)的故事。自2017年12月15日上映以來,該片已斬獲7.43億元人民幣的票房收入。

“Chinese audiences are now demanding quality in movie theatres because they can get mediocrity on the internet,” said Dede Nickerson, founder of Infinity Pictures in Beijing. “It was a better year than expected, the market feels like it is sobering up.”

“中國觀眾現(xiàn)在要求在電影院看到高質(zhì)量,因?yàn)樗麄兛梢栽诨ヂ?lián)網(wǎng)上看到一般的內(nèi)容。”北京Infinity Pictures的創(chuàng)始人德德•尼克森(Dede Nickerson)說,“這是比預(yù)期更好的一年,感覺市場正在清醒起來。”

The year also featured a strong showing by foreign films after censorship was relaxed and more imports than usual were permitted, apparently in an effort to prevent local box office takings from falling for the first time in more than two decades. “It is important for the numbers to be maintained to keep investment flowing into the sector,” said Ms Nickerson.

2017年,外國電影在中國的表現(xiàn)也很強(qiáng)勁,原因是有關(guān)部門放松了審查,允許進(jìn)口比平常更多的外國影片,顯然是為了防止20多年來中國本土票房收入首次下降。“為了保持投資流入這個(gè)行業(yè),維持增長率很重要,”尼克森說。

Foreign films, led by car chase movie The Fate of the Furious, accounted for 58 per cent of China’s total box office revenues, up from 51 per cent last year. China’s film market was once predicted to overtake the US in total revenues in late-2017, but the relatively small growth in 2016 ended those hopes.

以飆車電影《速度與激情8》為首的外國電影占2017年中國總票房收入的58%,高于上一年的51%。中國電影市場原本被預(yù)計(jì)將于2017年末在總收入上超過美國,但2016年相對(duì)較小的增幅終結(jié)了這一希望。

In a report published in May, consultancy PwC said the Chinese market was unlikely to overtake the US before 2021 at the earliest, forecasting compound annual growth of 11 per cent.

According to film industry newspaper Variety, the total US box office is set to fall this year by 2.5 per cent from last year’s $11.4bn.

據(jù)電影行業(yè)報(bào)紙《綜藝》(Variety)報(bào)道,美國今年的總票房收入將比去年的114億美元下降2.5%。

Chinese ticket sales may also have been helped by a campaign against box office fraud. Chinese authorities earlier this year began to prosecute theatres attempting to under-report ticket sales, which film executives think may have suppressed box office totals.

打擊票房欺詐行為的行動(dòng)可能也幫助提升了中國的票房收入。2017年早些時(shí)候,中國當(dāng)局開始懲處試圖低報(bào)票房銷售額的影院。電影行業(yè)高管認(rèn)為,這種行為或許壓低了票房收入總額。
