　　在2010年的溫哥華冬奧會(huì)上,來(lái)自西北特區(qū)的詩(shī)人謝恩·科伊贊(Shane Koyczan)在臺(tái)上朗讀其創(chuàng)作的、代表加拿大精義的詩(shī)作《We Are More》,獲得掌聲一片。
　　每個(gè)國(guó)家、每個(gè)民族都不是單一的獨(dú)立個(gè)體,它過(guò)往歷史的點(diǎn)滴,都將影響著這個(gè)世界的一顰一笑。

When defining Canada
You might list some statistics
You might mention our tallest building
or biggest lake
You might shake a tree in the fall

Barenaked Ladies
Or that we made these crazy things
Like zippers
Electric cars
And washing machines

Who would call our ambition an industry

Knowing now that so many of us
Have grown past what used to be

When they say things like “someday”

Someday we’ll be this or that

And all of our aspirations will pave the way
For those who on that day

文化交流站

the tallest building    指1976年于多倫多落成的加拿大國(guó)家電視塔(Canada's National Tower，CN Tower)，高度超過(guò)550米，是美洲最高建筑。
the biggest lake    指大熊湖(Great Bear Lake)，加拿大境內(nèi)最大湖泊，面積3.1萬(wàn)平方千米。
Buffy Sainte-Marie    巴菲·圣一瑪麗，加拿大早期民族歌唱家、作曲家、視覺藝術(shù)家、教師和社會(huì)活動(dòng)家。她有加拿大原住民血統(tǒng)。
Barenaked Ladies    赤裸淑女。加拿大樂團(tuán)，雖然叫“赤裸淑女”，卻為清一色男子。最近熱門美劇《生活大爆炸》(Big Bang Theory)的主題曲，便由他們演繹。
zipper    拉鏈的發(fā)明，指的是Gideon Sundback于1914年申請(qǐng)、1917年獲批的美國(guó)專利是現(xiàn)代拉鏈的起源。原為電氣工程師的Sundback出生于瑞典（后移民到加拿大，最終于美國(guó)定居），從小就對(duì)機(jī)械感興趣。1 905年移民到美國(guó)，不久開始從事拉鏈的發(fā)明創(chuàng)造，使改良后的拉鏈得以普及。
electric car    其實(shí)指的是electric streetcar（有軌）電車的發(fā)明，加拿大人John Joseph Wright于1 883年發(fā)明的。
washing machine    指的是加拿大新布倫茲維克省的John E．Turnbull于1843年申請(qǐng)專利的帶絞擰擠水輥的洗衣機(jī)(Clothes Washer with Wringer RollS).
