When the wind kicks up in the Sahara desert,

huge volumes of dust, rich in minerals,

are lifted into the air to be blown out across the Atlantic.

Here, much of it falls into the sea.

to the Amazon rainforest of South America.

In fact, a staggering 40 million tons of dust
