　　In vain the captain threatened to throw himoverboard; suspended a cutlass over his nakedwrists; Queequeg was the son of a King, andQueequeg budged not.

　　船長(zhǎng)徒勞地嚇唬著要把他拋進(jìn)海里;還在他那赤裸裸的肘腕上架了一柄彎刀;可是,魁魁格是國(guó)王的兒子,魁魁格一點(diǎn)也不為所動(dòng)。

　　Struck by his desperate dauntlessness, and his wilddesire to visit Christendom, the captain at lastrelented, and told him he might make himself athome.

For at bottom-so he told me-he was actuated by a profound desire to learnamong the Christians, the arts whereby to make his people still happier than they were; andmore than that, still better than they were.
