Captain Peleg, said Bildad steadily, thy consciencemay be drawing ten inches of water, or ten fathoms,I can't tell;

噢，法勒船長，你的良心也許能讓船多吃上幾英寸的水，這和我們關(guān)系不大，

but as thou art still an impenitent man, CaptainPeleg, I greatly fear lest thy conscience be but aleaky one;

但是你還是一個不知悔改的人,法勒船長,我非常怕你的良心滲漏;

and will in the end sink thee foundering down to the fiery pit, Captain Peleg.

可你不要還沒把大家沉到水里就先沉到了火坑里!

Fiery pit! fiery pit! ye insult me, man; past all natural bearing, ye insult me. It's an all-firedoutrage to tell any human creature that he's bound to hell.

火坑，火坑!你敢這樣侮辱我!該死的比勒達，你敢隨隨便便地侮辱人，你等著下地獄吧。

Flukes and flames! Bildad, say that again to me, and start my soul-bolts, but I'll—I'll—yes, I'llswallow a live goat with all his hair and horns on.

你如果再說一遍，我就絕對不客氣了!

Out of the cabin, ye canting, drab-coloured son of a wooden gun—a straight wake with ye!

你這個混蛋!你這個強盜的子孫，滾出去!滾! 他破口大罵，怒不可遏地沖向比勒達。

As he thundered out this he made a rush at Bildad, but with a marvellous oblique, slidingcelerity, Bildad for that time eluded him.

比勒達一閃身，躲開了他。比勒達正如喪家之犬般地躲避著憤怒的法勒船長。
