World Tourism Day is on September the 27th. It has been going since 1980 and was started by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). The purpose of this day is to raise awareness of the role of tourism internationally. The UNWTO hopes to highlight how tourism affects societies, cultures and economies worldwide. Since 1997, a host country acts as a partner to the UNWTO to celebrate World Tourism Day. There is a different theme each year. The first theme, in 1980, was tourism's contribution to the preservation of cultural heritage and to peace and mutual understanding. Other themes have included youth tourism, tourism as a force for world peace, and tourism and climate change.

9月27日是世界旅游日。這一節(jié)日始于1980年，由聯(lián)合國世界旅游組織設(shè)立，目的在于提高人們對國際旅游業(yè)作用的認(rèn)識(shí)。聯(lián)合國世界旅游組織希望突出旅游業(yè)對世界范圍內(nèi)社會(huì)、文化和經(jīng)濟(jì)的意義。自1997年起，東道主國家作為聯(lián)合國世界旅游組織的合作伙伴慶祝世界旅游日，每年的主題都不近相同。1980年的第一個(gè)主題是旅游業(yè)對文化遺產(chǎn)保護(hù)、世界和平和相互理解的貢獻(xiàn)。其他的主題包括青年旅游、旅游是世界和平的力量、旅游與氣候變化。


Tourism is one of the biggest industries in the world. It employs millions of people and generates billions of dollars. Many developing countries rely on tourist dollars for their survival. In recent decades tourism has boomed. People are richer, air travel is cheaper and many closed borders are coming down. The collapse of communism has seen millions of new tourists coming out of Russia and the former communist countries. This increase in tourism does create problems. In many of the world's top tourist destinations, there is a strain on the environment. The huge number of tourists is in danger of destroying the reason for sites being so popular. World Tourism Day is a good time to look at our global responsibilities as tourists.

旅游業(yè)是世界上最大的產(chǎn)業(yè)之一。數(shù)百萬人從事這一行業(yè)，創(chuàng)造了數(shù)十億美元的收益。許多發(fā)展中國家都依賴旅游收入維持。近十年來，旅游業(yè)興旺起來，原因在于人們變富了，航空旅游更便宜了，許多閉塞的邊境開放了。共產(chǎn)主義失敗后，數(shù)百萬游客從俄國和前共產(chǎn)主義國家走出來。游客的增多帶來很多問題。在許多世界頂級的旅游勝地，生態(tài)環(huán)境不堪重負(fù)。因一些景點(diǎn)特受歡迎，大量游客的到來造成景點(diǎn)的破壞。世界旅游節(jié)是反思游客國際責(zé)任的好時(shí)候。
