propose (提議，建議)

Tip: propose既可作及物動詞又可作不及物動詞，可表示"提議，建議，推薦，求(婚)，祝酒"等。表示"提議，建議"時，后面接 Ving構成 propose doing, 還可接 that從句。如 He proposed building a bridge across this river. (他建議在這條河上修建一座橋。)作不及物動詞表示"計劃，打算"時，后面接動詞不定式 (propose to do) ，如: They propose to begin tonight. (他們打算今晚開始行動。)另外， propose to表示"向……求婚",如 Tom proposed to Marry the other day. (幾天前湯姆向瑪麗求婚了。); propose a toast (to sb.)意思是"(為某人)干杯"。
