Nowadays, fewer Americans think the American Dream is still achievable, but many have redefined what that dream means.

現(xiàn)如今，認為美國夢仍是可實現(xiàn)的美國人越來越少，但是很多人給美國夢重新下了定義。

In the late 1990s about one-third believed the American Dream meant some form of financial success, like the acquisition of goods, a bigger house, a home with a piece of land around it and so on. This group is called Traditional Materilists.

在20世紀90年代，大約有三分之一的人認為美國夢意味著經(jīng)濟上的成功，比如得到商品，買了大房子，并擁有其周圍的一塊土地等等。這群人被稱為是傳統(tǒng)物質(zhì)主義者。

Another one-third eschewed both that label and that aspiration. They had decided to reorder their priorities away from things and rejected the notion that he who dies with the most toys wins. The group is called Secular Spiritualists.

另外三分之一的人卻避開那些標簽和追求不談，認為物質(zhì)乃身外之物，不是最重要的，不接受所謂的死亡的時候擁有最多玩具的是勝者的說法。這群人被叫做世俗唯靈論者。

Over the past decade, there is a steady growth of the Secular Spiritualists to around 42%, while the Traditional Materialists now number about 31%.
