點撥：although we're the only ones that know that這個讓步狀語從句中含有一個定語從句：that know that。先行詞是不定代詞ones，而且這里用的是復數(shù)。當先行詞為不定代詞one而且在定語從句中充當主語成分，引導詞只能用that，不能用who。

點撥：coroner是指“驗尸官”，prison coroner是指“監(jiān)獄驗尸官”。store ashes意思是“儲存骨灰”。
點撥：right here意思是“就在這兒”。例如：All my earthly possessions are right here. 我所有財產就在這兒了。

點撥：white female是指“皮膚是白色的女性”。Virtually是個副詞，意思是“事實上”。personal ties是指“個人牽絆”。
點撥：paper trail是美國常用的非正式用于，表示“a series of documents that provide evidence of what you have done or what has happened”翻譯為中文是指“卷宗檔案”。例如：: He was a shrewd lawyer with a talent for uncovering paper trails of fraud.

點撥：do在這里是助動詞，起到加強語氣的作用，可以翻譯為“的確，確實”。those指代Alex的條件——年輕，性感有誘惑力，是白人，而且是女性。
點撥：come by是個固定短語，意思是“獲得，得到”。例如：Such a universal genius is hard to come by. 這樣的全才是很難得的。

點撥：grab是“抓”的意思，attention是“注意力”的意思，grab one’s attention直接翻譯就是“抓住某人的注意力”，意譯為“吸引某人的目光”。例如：It won't take much to grab someone's undivided attention . 不必為了吸引某人的目光而花太多的心思。Be short and concise, but add a specific instance to grab their attention. 簡潔明了，但要有具體的例子抓住對方的注意力。
點撥：be about to do sth意思是“即刻去做某事”。例如：I am about to go back to work. 我馬上又要回到工作中了。
點撥：take out是一個固定短語，意思是“帶......出去”。例如：I will take my kid for shopping. 我將帶我的孩子出門購物。She followed up with a suggestion that he take her out to dinner. 她乘機建議他帶她去吃飯。

點撥：ow是個語氣詞，it is used to express sudden pain(常用語表示突然間的疼痛)。例如：Ow! That hurt!

點撥：by the way作為插入語用，意思是“順便”。例如：By the way, do you have any idea where the post office is? 順便問一下，你知道郵局在哪兒嗎?
點撥：part of是“部分”的意思。Smuggling是動詞smuggle的現(xiàn)在分詞，做定語用，修飾名詞ring，它的意思是“走私的”，ring在這里是指“集團”，smuggling ring意思就是“走私集團”。“He was part of a smuggling ring.”意思就是“它是走私集團的一份子”。

點撥：dead from意思是“死于......，因......而死亡”。例如：The little boy was half dead from hunger. 那小男孩餓得半死。
點撥：show up是一個固定短語，意思是“出現(xiàn)，露面”。例如：We are going to freak out if you do not show up. 你不來我們就要發(fā)瘋了。show up to something可以用于表示“參加......”。例如：He didn’t show up to my party. 他沒有參加我的派對。臺詞中用到的是show up to his funeral，意思是“出席他的葬禮”“參加他的葬禮”。

點撥：over是副詞，意思“結束”。“Your life is over.”在這里是指“你的自由的生活結束了。”offer you a new one在這里可以理解為“給予你第二次生命”。
