In the United States,people go through kindergarten for two to three years,grades one to five in elementary school,six to eight in middle school,and nine to twelve in high school.Many people also go to college for four years.

在美國，人們上兩年到三年的幼稚園，小學是從一到五年級，六到八(年級)是初中，九到十二(年級)是高中。很多也會再用四年的時間去上大學(學院)。

For high school students who want to get into a good college,they must work hard on their grades and also do well on national aptitude tests like the SAT or ACT,because that would improve the students' chances of getting accepted by the colleges.

對于想上好大學的高中生來說，為了拿到好的成績，他們必須非常用功;他們必須努力學習成績，還要考好國家能力傾向測驗，比如SAT或ACT，因為這些(好的SAT或ACT成績)可以增加學生們被大學錄取的機會。

Grades are usually determined by tests and examinations.Tests are given a few times during a semester to give students an idea of what had been gaught and what they should know.Final exams are given at the end of a semester;they cover everything the students should have learned during the entire semeste.

(課業(yè))成績通常是通過測驗和考試來決定的。一個學期中會有幾次測驗，目的是為了讓學生對于(老師)所教的是些什么和自己應該學到什么有個概念。學期的最后會有個期末考試，這考試(它們)包含了學生在整個學期中應該學到的所有內(nèi)容。
