注：舞會應該說 dancing party，不要說 dance party，但一般只說 dance 也就夠了。開舞會就說 give a dance，去參加舞會就說 go to a dance。那旅館每晚舉行舞會：At the hotel dances are held nightly. 我第一次遇見她是在一個舞會上：She and I first met at a dance. 他們請我參加舞會：They asked me to a dance. 規(guī)模較大的舞會，英語又可說 ball，是從拉丁文來的。
