第十四章 介詞 within 和without 的用法

　　1. Within:

　　l)在……以內(nèi)：

　　It's within three miles of the station.

　　它離車站不到三英里。

　　We must live within our income.

　　我們必須量入為出。

　　It's a task within your power.

　　這是你力所能及的。

　　2)在(多少時間)內(nèi)，不到......

　　Within a day or two he got a letter from them.

　　他一兩天內(nèi)就收到他們一封信。

　　Their troops should be withdrawn within sixty days.

　　他們的軍隊必須在六十天內(nèi)撤出。

　　I'll be coming with him within half an hour.

　　我半小時內(nèi)就和他一道來?

　　2. Without:

　　l)不，沒有：

　　He agreed without any comment.

　　他沒說什么就同意了。

　　we must do it without delay.

　　我們必須毫不拖延地去辦。

　　For four days , he worked without taking any rest.

　　他毫不停息地一連干了四天。

　　2)(without引起短語作表語)沒有......

　　we were again without a cent.

　　我們又不名一文了。

　　They were poor and without influence.

　　他們無錢又無勢。

　　(There is) No rose without a thorn.

　　沒有不帶刺的玫瑰。(諺)

　　3)用于某些成語：

　　If we can t find the machine, we'll have to do without it.

　　如果找不到機器，我們就只好不用了。

　　The poor boy had to go without shoes (food).

　　這可憐的孩子只好光著腳(餓著肚子)。

　　It goes without saying that they will support us.

　　不用說他們是會支持我們的。
