第十四章 介詞 throughout 和till 的用法

　　1. throughout:

　　l)整個(gè)……時(shí)期：

　　Rain fell throughout the night.

　　雨下了一整夜。

　　They worked like that throughout the year.

　　整整一年他們都這樣干。

　　He was a brave fighter throughout his life.

　　他英勇斗爭(zhēng)了一輩子。

　　2)在全……：

　　Schools were opened throughout the country.

　　在全國(guó)興辦了學(xué)校。

　　The Fourth of July is celebrated throughout the United States.

　　整個(gè)美國(guó)都慶祝七月四日(國(guó)慶節(jié))。

　　It is famous throughout the world.

　　它是全世界出名的。

　　2. till

　　l)直到：

　　The meeting lasted till midnight.

　　會(huì)一直開(kāi)到午夜。

　　We'll have to wait till Monday.

　　我們得等到星期一再說(shuō)。

　　Never put off till tomorrow what may be done today.

　　絕不要把今天能做的事拖到明天去做。(諺)

　　2)(用于否定句)直到……才：

　　We didn't know anything about it till yesterday.

　　我們到昨天才知道這件事。

　　She won't be free till nine o'clock.

　　她九點(diǎn)鐘才有空。

　　They had not，till then，thought seriously of doing that.

　　直到這時(shí)他們才認(rèn)真考慮這樣做。

　　3)用于某些成語(yǔ)：

　　They worked together from morning till night.

　　他們從早到晚在一起干。

　　Up till now we’ve got no news from them.

　　迄今我們還未得到過(guò)他們的消息。

　　Good-bye till tomorrow.

　　明天再見(jiàn)。

　　We'd better leave it till next week.

　　我們最好留到卜星期再說(shuō)。

　　They needn't have children，till later.

　　他們可以以后再要孩子。

　　I put off writing to you till today，that I might write at leisure.

　　我推遲到今天才給你寫(xiě)信，為的是能從容不迫地寫(xiě)。
