第十四章 介詞 for 的用法(1)

　　1. for:

　　l)為了(某個(gè)目的):

　　At twelve, she goes home for lunch.

　　十二點(diǎn)她回家吃午飯。

　　Can you come for an interview at 10?

　　你十點(diǎn)鐘能來面談嗎?

　　This is for reducing your temperature.

　　這是為你退燒的。

　　2)為(某人或某事):

　　He planned to write some stories for children.

　　他計(jì)劃為兒童寫些故事。

　　What can I do for this cough?

　　我有什么辦法治這咳嗽?

　　For long distance calls，dial zero first.

　　打長(zhǎng)途電話先撥0。

　　3)想找(某人)，想得到：

　　Someone is asking for you on the phone.

　　有人找你接電話。

　　So we turned to workers for advice.

　　因此我們向工人們求教。

　　We have to send in the plan for approval.

　　這計(jì)劃我們得送上去批。

　　4)表示原因：

　　Thank you for your warm hospitality.

　　謝謝你們的熱情招待。

　　She apologized for being late.

　　她為遲到表示了歉意。

　　I'm so sorry for what has happened.

　　發(fā)生了這件事我非常抱歉。

　　5)對(duì)……

　　We were filled with admiration for his courage.

　　我們對(duì)他的勇敢充滿崇敬之情。

　　Take it. It's good for you.

　　吃掉吧，這對(duì)你有好處的。

　　He expressed sympathy for the common people.

　　他對(duì)平民百姓表現(xiàn)了同情。

　　6)給(某人的):

　　Is this the money order for Robert?

　　這是給羅伯特的匯票嗎?

　　There is a fax for you.

　　有你一份傳真。

　　Handing me the letter, he said,“It 5 for you.”

　　他送給我一封信說，“這是你的。”

　　7)供……用的：

　　Do you have an apartment for rent?

　　你的單元房出租嗎?

　　It is a general hospital for that district.

　　這是那個(gè)區(qū)的綜合醫(yī)院。

　　Have you room for us there?

　　那兒有我們坐的地方嗎?
