第十一章 數(shù)詞 分?jǐn)?shù)詞（Fractional Numerals)

　　1.表示“幾分之幾”的詞稱為分?jǐn)?shù)詞。分?jǐn)?shù)詞是由基數(shù)詞和序數(shù)詞合成的，基數(shù)詞代表分子，序數(shù)詞表示分母，除了分子為1的情況外，序數(shù)詞都用復(fù)數(shù)：

　　1/4one-fourth

　　2/3two-thirds

　　3/5three-fifths

　　9 3/4 nie and three-fourths (九又四分之三)

　　另外還有下面表示法：

　　1/2a(one)half

　　3/4three-quarters

　　1/4a(one)quarter

　　2 1/4 two and a quarter

　　2/3 two over three

　　2.分?jǐn)?shù)詞在句中可用作：

　　1)分?jǐn)?shù)詞作主語：

　　A quarter of the workers are women.

　　四分之一的工人是女工。

　　Over nine-tenths of China's inhabitants belong to the Han nationality

　　中國居民的十分之九以上為漢族人。

　　2)分?jǐn)?shù)詞作賓語或介詞賓語：

　　They used one-fifth of the money for capital construction.

　　他們用五分之一的錢進(jìn)行基本建設(shè)。

　　They account for one sixth of the population.

　　他們占人口的六分之一。

　　3)分?jǐn)?shù)詞作同位語或表語：

　　Some 565 million people, about two-fifths of our population, live in this area.

　　占我國人口五分之二的五億六T五百萬人居住在這個(gè)地區(qū)。

　　The crop that year was only one-third of the usual amount.

　　這年的收成只是正常年景的三分之一。

　　3.分?jǐn)?shù)詞作定語(a)或狀語(b)：

　　a.It's one-twentieth the thickness of a human hair.

　　它相當(dāng)于人頭發(fā)絲的二十分之一(那么細(xì))。

　　b.China is one-sixth larger than the United States.

　　中國比美國大六分之一。
