　　1. other：

　　other可用作定語(yǔ)(這樣用時(shí)有些字典標(biāo)作形容詞，有些標(biāo)作限定詞)：表示“另外那個(gè)”(a)或“其他的”，“別的”(b)：

　　a. He walked across the road to the other side.

　　他過(guò)馬路到街的那一邊。

　　I sleep in this room，and my brother sleeps in the other room.

　　我在這間房睡，我弟弟在另外那間房睡。

　　b. Have you any other problems to discuss?

　　你們還有什么別的問(wèn)題要討論?

　　The other ones my mother thinks are okay.

　　其他幾個(gè)我母親認(rèn)為不錯(cuò)。

　　other還可用作代詞表示“另外那個(gè)”(a)，“其他的人”，“別的……”(b)

　　a. One ESL teacher was an Englishman and the other an American.

　　一個(gè)英語(yǔ)外教是英國(guó)人，另外那個(gè)是美國(guó)人。

　　One girl is tall，but the other is short.

　　有個(gè)姑娘高，而另一個(gè)矮。

　　b. And others fled back to Austria.

　　其他的人都逃回奧地利去了。

　　Which others do you want?

　　你還要哪些別的?

　　2. another：

　　another也可用作定語(yǔ)(這樣用時(shí)有些字典標(biāo)作形容詞，有些標(biāo)作限定詞)，可表示“另一個(gè)”(a)或“再一個(gè)”(b)：

　　a. The shop is closed today，so we'll come another day.

　　商店今天關(guān)門(mén)，我們改天再來(lái)。

　　This dress was dirty.so she had to change into another one.

　　這件連衣裙臟了，她得另?yè)Q一件。

　　b. May I have another cup of tea?

　　我能再喝一杯茶嗎?

　　I could tell you another joke.

　　我可以再給你講一個(gè)笑話(huà)。

　　another還可用作代詞，表示“再一個(gè)”，“另一個(gè)”：

　　If you finish the book I can give you another.

　　這本書(shū)如果看完我可再給你一本。

　　One boy was reading：another was listening to the radio.

　　一個(gè)男孩在看書(shū)，另一個(gè)男孩在聽(tīng)收音機(jī)。
