第八章 動(dòng)詞的非謂語(yǔ)形式 過(guò)去分詞作定語(yǔ)

　　1.過(guò)去分詞作定語(yǔ)的時(shí)候也很多，有時(shí)單獨(dú)一個(gè)詞放在所修飾的詞前面(a)，引起的短語(yǔ)放在所修飾的詞后面(b)：

　　a. I passed the written test.

　　我的筆試通過(guò)了。

　　She bought a pound of ground beef.

　　她買了一磅牛肉末。

　　Two barbecued chickens，Please.

　　請(qǐng)給我兩只烤雞。

　　How much is the imported cheese?

　　進(jìn)口奶酪怎么賣?

　　Estimated time of arrival is 11:30am.

　　預(yù)定到達(dá)時(shí)間是上午1l點(diǎn)半。

　　She is one of the most qualified candidates.

　　她是最合格的候選人之一。

　　b. Is there anything planned for tonight?

　　今晚有什么活動(dòng)?

　　They're problems left over by history.

　　這些是歷史遺留下來(lái)的問(wèn)題。

　　What's the language spoken there?

　　那里講的是什么語(yǔ)言?

　　This is something unheard of in history.

　　這是史無(wú)前例的事。

　　What did you think of the play put on by Class Two?

　　二班演的劇你覺得怎樣?

　　A woman dressed in blue came into the room.

　　一個(gè)穿藍(lán)衣服的女子走進(jìn)屋來(lái)。

　　有時(shí)單獨(dú)的過(guò)去分詞也可放在修飾的詞后面作后置定語(yǔ)：

　　We still have some bread left.

　　我們還剩一些面包。

　　Do you know the number of books ordered?

　　你知道不知道訂購(gòu)了多少書?

　　2.過(guò)去分詞還可構(gòu)成合成詞作定語(yǔ)：

　　a simply-furnished room

　　一間陳設(shè)簡(jiǎn)單的房間

　　a clear-cut answer

　　明確的答復(fù)

　　heartfelt thanks

　　衷心的感謝

　　a well-known musician

　　著名的音樂家

　　3.過(guò)去分詞有時(shí)插在句子中間，作用接近同位語(yǔ)：

　　New York City，(which was) founded in 1653，is an old city.

　　1653年建成的紐約市是座古老的城市。

　　The book，written in 1957，tells of the struggle of miners.

　　這本書是1957年寫的，講的是礦工的斗爭(zhēng)。
