We are starting with news concerning Saudi Arabia, a Middle Eastern country that`s the world`s 13 largest nation in area and its biggest export of oil.

Saudi Arabia is a monarchy. King Abdullah who`s led the nation since 2005 died last week. And President Obama recently traveled there to pay his respects and visit Saudi Arabia`s new leader, King Salman. Saudi Arabia is an ally of the U.S. in fighting terrorism, but it has a bad record on human rights. A blogger who spoke out against the Saudi government was recently whipped a 1000 times and imprisoned for 20 years. The nation doesn`t allow women to drive, made this a politically challenging trip for President Obama.

沙特阿拉伯為君主制國家。阿卜杜拉國王自2005年開始執(zhí)政掌管該國，于上周去世。奧巴馬總統(tǒng)最近已經(jīng)前往該國進(jìn)行吊念，并對新領(lǐng)導(dǎo)人薩勒曼國王進(jìn)行訪問。沙特阿拉伯是美國對抗恐怖主義分子的盟友，但是其人權(quán)方面一直做得不太好。最近在一位博主公開指責(zé)沙特阿拉伯政府被實施1000次鞭刑并被判20年監(jiān)禁。該國還不允許女性開車，這對于奧巴馬此次出訪是一次政治挑戰(zhàn)。

President Obama`s stop in Saudi Arabia was brief, but spoke volumes about U.S. relations with this key Mideast ally.

After cutting short his trip to India following the death of Saudi King Abdullah, the president and the newly crowned monarch in Riyadh were all smiles when Mr. Obama praised King Salman`s palace.

在縮短對印度訪問行程之后奧巴馬總統(tǒng)驅(qū)身前往沙特阿拉伯。當(dāng)奧巴馬總統(tǒng)稱贊薩勒曼國王宮殿漂亮?xí)r居住在首都利雅得的新任國王露出微笑。
