CNN News:開學季迎來了“感冒流行季”

Back to school season can mean back to school colds. We are going to tell you what to watch out for today on CNN STUDENT NEWS. I`m Carl Azuz. Welcome into the show.

On average, you can expect to get about four to six colds per year, and you`ve heard how to avoid them, wash your hands with soap. If you haven`t done that, don`t touch your face or your food. Don`t kiss or drink after people who are sick. There`s a virus that`s been spreading in some parts of the U.S. It`s called enterovirus. It`s common. And it`s usually not deadly, but a particular strain of enterovirus has sent hundreds of kids to the hospital this summer. One doctor says many of the cases she`s seen are from children who have a history of breathing problems like asthma or wheezing. So, if you have asthma, doctors say it`s important to keep taking your medication.

平均來講，每個人每年都會得四到六次感冒，你肯定也聽過該怎樣來預防感冒，就是勤用香皂洗手，如果沒有的話就不要用手觸摸你的臉或者你的食物，不要與感冒的人親密接觸。這是在美國部分地區(qū)廣泛傳播的病毒叫做腸道病毒。這是一種很常見的病毒，通常來講并不致命，但是某一種腸道病毒已經(jīng)導致數(shù)百名孩子住進了醫(yī)院。一位醫(yī)生告訴我們稱這些孩子中大多數(shù)都有呼吸病病史，例如氣喘或者哮喘。所以如果你有氣喘類病史的話醫(yī)生建議說繼續(xù)服藥很重要。

Other signs to watch out for in this particular strain of enterovirus include coughing, fever or getting a rash.

這種特殊腸道疾病病變癥狀還包括咳嗽，發(fā)燒或者出皮疹現(xiàn)象。

This particular virus is called enterovirus D 68, and they are seeing it mostly in the Midwest and the Southeast.

這種特殊病毒被稱為68號腸道病毒，在中西部和東南部比較常見。

There are dozens and dozens of different types of enteroviruses and they cause different kinds of symptoms. Some cause respiratory symptoms, others might cause gastrointestinal symptoms. And often an enterovirus is really no big deal. If you`ve ever had a summer cold, there`s a very good chance that that was caused by an enterovirus. But there`s something about D68 that makes it worse. There`s something about this particular type of enterovirus that gives much more severe symptoms that often land people in the hospitals.

腸道病毒分很多種不同類型的病毒，并可以引發(fā)不同癥狀疾病。一些可能引起呼吸道系統(tǒng)疾病，一些可能引起胃腸道系統(tǒng)疾病，通常感染一種腸道病毒不是什么大問題。如果你夏天曾經(jīng)得過感冒的話，那很可能就是腸道病毒引起的。但是如果感染68號腸道病毒的話那病情就會嚴重一些。這種腸道病毒可以引起很多種不同并發(fā)癥。

For example, let`s just look at Mercy Hospital, it`s a children`s hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. They`ve had more than 400 children in the hospital with signs of this virus. 60 of those children have ended up in intensive care, and this is the important part: that`s been in less than a month. That`s pretty severe. Pediatricians there say they`ve never seen anything like it.

例如拿慈善醫(yī)院來講，這是在密蘇里州堪薩斯市的一家兒童醫(yī)院。他們已經(jīng)接納了超過400名感染這種病毒的兒童。有60名兒童在重癥監(jiān)護室進行治療，最重要的這種情況發(fā)生在一個月之內(nèi)，是相當嚴重的現(xiàn)象。兒科醫(yī)生也表示從未見過這樣嚴重的病毒感染。

This type of enterovirus has been around since the 1960s, it`s popped up here and there in the United States and in other countries as well. They don`t know why it`s gotten so bad this year.

這種病毒自20世紀60年代以來就有了，突然出現(xiàn)在美國各個地方，其他國家也有。但是不知道今年為什么這么嚴重。
