CNN News:蘇必利爾湖里的天然溶洞

In the Southwest area of Lake Superior, part of the natural border between the U.S. and Canada, there`s a pristine chain of 21 islands. They are called the Apostle Islands, the jewels of Lake Superior. It`s a national park, rich and everything from human history to natural history. We recently showed you how a bitterly cold winter crusted over the caves and ice. Now, we are stepping inside.

在蘇必利爾湖西南部加-美邊境交界處有一條由21座島嶼組成的原始鏈條，這些島嶼被稱(chēng)之為阿伯斯特爾群島，被看做是蘇必利爾湖的項(xiàng)鏈。這里屬于國(guó)家公園，景色優(yōu)美物產(chǎn)豐富，擁有悠久的人類(lèi)歷史和自然歷史文化。最近我們向您呈現(xiàn)過(guò)寒冷冬天里洞穴和冰雪的畫(huà)面，現(xiàn)在我們要走進(jìn)里面去看一看。

Over the past few months, more than 100,000 people had journey to the northern tip of Wisconsin, marching over ice covered Lake Superior for more than a mile each way, in a bitter cold. All because of what lies ahead.

在過(guò)去幾個(gè)月的時(shí)間里，超過(guò)10萬(wàn)人來(lái)到威斯康星州北段，冒著嚴(yán)寒穿過(guò)冰雪覆蓋的蘇必利爾湖去一看究竟。因?yàn)槟抢镉形麄兊牡胤健?/p>

Dozens of ice caves, stretching for over a mile along the coast or giving people an experience of a lifetime.

It`s like walking into the Holy ..

While some of the caves are massive like this one, which is called the garage, others .

Inside each cave houses, a unique icy masterpiece, all courtesy of Mother Nature.

在每個(gè)洞穴里面都是一副獨(dú)特的冰雪巨作，都是大自然巧奪天工的作品。

That`s a really weird pinkish hue.

這個(gè)粉色調(diào)調(diào)真奇怪。

The colors in there are really weird.

這里面的色彩都特別稀奇，特別獨(dú)具匠心。

The caves which kayakers flocked to every summer, are made of sandstone.

每年夏天皮艇愛(ài)好者們聚集的洞穴都是由砂巖形成的。

They are overlaying by a wet soil. There are springs and sips. And so, these rocks actually have little cracks in them. And so, there`s a lot of water that is coming down through and over the rocks and forming into ice formations.

這些洞穴表面覆蓋著一層潮濕的土壤，有小溪流過(guò)，表層還有很多小孔。這些巖石中間幾乎是沒(méi)有裂縫的，所以表層上的水會(huì)順著小孔留到下面，從而形成了這些“冰雕”。

The ice is starting to melt away in some spots. This is the first winter in five years the caves have been accessible and there`s no way of knowing when we`ll be able to see them again.

在一些地方冰雪開(kāi)始融化，這是五年以來(lái)第一次在冬天進(jìn)入洞穴，我們不知道我們不能不能再一次見(jiàn)到這壯觀的場(chǎng)面。
