be in the same boat 字面上意思是：“大家都在同一條船上”，既然在一條船上，如果船出事大家就都會掉進水里，所以這個短語的引申意思是：“大家的處境相同”。因此，當美國人說"We are in the same boat."時，他/她要表達的意思就是:"We are in the same situation."、"We are faced with the same problem."。
