　　You cannot make an omelet without breaking eggs.

　　做任何事如果不努力的話，最得不到結(jié)果的。

　　cannot make an omelet without breaking eggs直譯過(guò)來(lái)就是：“不打碎雞蛋就做不了煎蛋卷”，這個(gè)短語(yǔ)的正確意思是：“天下沒有白吃的午餐，付出才有收獲”。因此，當(dāng)美國(guó)人說(shuō)"You cannot make an omeletwithout breaking eggs."時(shí)，他/她要表達(dá)的意思就是:"You must work hard if you want tosuccess."、"No pains, no gains."。
