Thank you, thank you very much. Thank you very much for this honor you are awarding me tonight. I've always believed that real measures of celebrity success was not just how famous he becomes, but what he does with that fame and fortune. Especially in today's technological and media advanced society, the attention and fortune shower on the individual celebrity is often times immensely disproportionate to his or her achievements. Today a person can literally become a celebrity over night throughout the entire world, and that kind of attention can be difficult for the individual to handle. But we have also learnt that such fame can also be an enormous affective medium to focus attention and mobilize resources for world he calls. I have been blessed with so much and have an opportunity to do what few others can. But I believe it is more than just an opportunity but a duty. I feel to rip and enjoy the fruits of my talents for myself could be selfish be irresponsible and unconscionale.

謝謝，非常感謝。非常感謝大家今晚給予我的榮譽(yù)。我一直相信真正的名人成功的標(biāo)準(zhǔn)不是他多么的出名，而是他利用他的名聲和財富所做的事。尤其是在今天這個科技和傳媒高度發(fā)達(dá)的社會，世人對他的關(guān)注和財富籠罩著每一個名人，而且總是與他們所取得的成就極不相稱。如今一個人可以一夜之間在全世界成名，同時個人很難正確對待這樣的關(guān)注。但是我們同樣知道，這樣的名聲也可以被當(dāng)作具有強(qiáng)大影響力的媒介用來吸引公眾的注意力，調(diào)動他的名聲所帶來的世界上的所有資源。我已經(jīng)得到上帝的太多賜福，有機(jī)會做很少有人能做的事。但是我認(rèn)為，這不只是一種機(jī)會，更是一種責(zé)任。我覺得把自己的天賦僅僅用于自己的享受是自私的、不負(fù)責(zé)任的、也是不合理的。

1999年5月1日，邁克爾·杰克遜在美國紐約接受寶萊塢世界人道主義獎。當(dāng)時邁克爾·杰克遜身著印度傳統(tǒng)服飾，為他頒獎的是印度一名商人代表。在邁克爾·杰克遜去世之后，寶萊塢集團(tuán)的主席對他的去世感到很傷心。他認(rèn)為邁克爾·杰克遜是一個很好的人，但被公眾嚴(yán)重誤解了。邁克爾·杰克遜生前資助的基金會多達(dá)18個，他的慷慨解囊以及他在全世界的影響力幫助了無數(shù)被疾病和貧窮困擾的兒童。
