Kathy and Evan continue discussing the possibility of going to Europe for a trip.

凱西和艾凡繼續(xù)討論到歐洲旅行一趟的可能性。

E:That would be great, just you and me traveling around Europe. But,wait. Reality check.

艾凡：就只有你和我到歐洲旅行，這太棒了。不過且慢?？紤]一下現(xiàn)實(shí)問題。

K:But what? You mean it's too expensive?

凱西：考慮什么?你的意思是到歐洲旅行太貴了。

E:Precisely! Do you know how much it would cost? I could afford the air fare maybe, but, you know, the hotels and everything would be pricey.

艾凡：完全正確!你知道那要花多少錢嗎?我也許可以負(fù)擔(dān)機(jī)票錢，但是，你知道旅館和其它所有的費(fèi)用很花錢的。

K:But we wouldn't have to stay in hotels.

凱西：但是我們并不需要住在旅館啊。

E:We wouldn't?

艾凡：不用嗎?

K:Of course not. We might be able to stay with our relatives. Even if we couldn't, we could always stay in hostels.

凱西：當(dāng)然不用。我們也許可以住在我們親戚家里。即使不能，也可以都住在青年旅社里。

E:I forgot about hostels! They're much cheaper.

艾凡：我忘了青年旅社，住那兒便宜多了。

K:They certainly are. And we could take ground transportation throughout Europe, too.

凱西：當(dāng)然。而且我們也可以走鐵公路游歐洲。

E:And not buy too much. But can we get tickets in time?

艾凡：而且不要買太多東西。但是我們可以及時(shí)買到機(jī)票嗎?

K:I don't know, but I do know a guy in my neighborhood who works in a travel agency. I could ask him.

E:Oh? Who is this guy?

艾凡：哦?這家伙是誰?

K:Oh? Aren't we jealous all of a sudden!

單詞短語精講：

1.afford 負(fù)擔(dān)得起

can/cannot afford+N/to V能夠/不能夠負(fù)擔(dān)得起……

注意:

afford通常置于助動(dòng)詞can或。cannot之后，其后可接名詞或不定式作賓語。

例:I cannot afford(to buv)。new car now，but I },lan to buv one next vear.

(我現(xiàn)在買不起新車，但我計(jì)劃明年買一輛。)

2.fare

fee 費(fèi)用

注意:

fare常用于表示付“交通工具”的費(fèi)用，如:air- fare(機(jī)票錢),bus fare(公交車錢)和taxi fare(出租車費(fèi))

而fee。則指用來付給專業(yè)人員辦事的費(fèi)或其他的報(bào)名費(fèi)、人場(chǎng)費(fèi)等

例：the taxi fare in Beijing is very reasonable.

(在北京，出租車費(fèi)很合理。)

(那位鋼琴老師的收費(fèi)很高，但她教得很好。)

3 . pricey 昂貴的(= y-icY}

例:New CDs are y-icey nowadays.

(現(xiàn)今新的CD很貴。)

4. hostel[}hastl } n.青年旅社

注意:

許多年輕人在國(guó)外自助旅行時(shí)會(huì)選擇住在價(jià)格較為低廉卻干凈、安全的青年旅社，同時(shí)也可和來自其他國(guó)家的旅行者相互交流。因?yàn)榍嗄曷蒙缡且环N比較家庭式的旅社，所以在這里大家相處得就像家人一樣。

5.be jealous of...嫉妒……
