Complaints and Claims
Pearl: I'd like to talk to you about something that is getting to be a trouble . I'd like, if possible, to see it settled at this meeting.
Andrew: What is it, Pearl? It's nothing serious, I hope.
Pearl: Awfully it is. We have sent a letter about it.
Andrew: We've received the letter. You claim to refund the money. You mean the shipment of Christmas decorations?
Pearl: You know, Christmas decorations are seasonal goods. We signed a contract for 500,000 dozen Christmas decorations last September. The goods should have arrived in New York no later than late November, but it was on December 19 the decorations arrived. It was too late for us to have them allotted .
Andrew: We did have the decorations laded according to the contract stipulations. You might have noticed it from the shipping advice we sent you.
Pearl: I've studied all the necessary documentation, including the shipping advice. Unfortunately the dockers were on strike, which caused almost ten days delay in its arrival in New York.
Andrew: You'd had the cargo insured against S.R.C.C., hadn't you? In that case, I'd advise you should be referred to the insurance company for expense.
Pearl: You mean, you reject apology and disposal .
Andrew: I 'm sorry to hear that but I don't think your claim is reasonable, I'm afraid I can't help but decline your claim.
