There once was an old man and old woman in a little house. 從前有個貧窮的老人和他的妻子住在一間小屋里.
They were very poor.他們很窮.
They were so poor,they had nothing to eat. 他們太窮了,沒有東西吃
They were very hungry.所以他們很餓.
One afternoon,the old woman said,一天下午,老婦人說
"There is no food for supper.What will we do?"晚飯沒有吃的了.我們該怎么辦?
She was crying.她哭了.
The old man said, 老人說
"Oh,no!What will we do?"哦,天啊!我們該怎么辦?
He was crying.他哭了.
Then along came a little boy.這時候來了個小男孩.
The boy was singing,小男孩在唱歌
"Magic stone,magic stone.魔石,魔石.
I have a magic stone!"我有一塊魔石!
The old woman said,老人說
"Little boy!Come here.小男孩!到這來.
What is a magic stoen?"什么是魔石?
The little boy said, 小孩說
"A magic stone makes food.A magic stone makes delicious soup!" 魔石可以做出食物.魔石可以做出美味的湯
The old woman said,老婦人說
"Little boy,we are very hungry.小男孩,我們很餓.
We have no supper.May we borrow your magic stone,please?"我們沒有晚飯了.可以請你把魔石借給我們嗎?
The little boy said,"Sure!First we need a big pot."小男孩說"當然,首先我們需要一口大鍋."
So the old woman got a big pot.老婦人拿出一口大鍋
The little boy put the magic stone in the pot. 小男孩把魔石放到鍋里.
Then the little boy said,
"We need some water."我們需要一些水.
So the old man put water in the pot.老夫人往鍋里加了一些水
Then the little boy said,
"We need some salt and pepper."我們需要一些鹽和胡椒粉
So the old woman put salt and pepper in the pot. 老婦人往鍋里加了一些鹽和胡椒粉
Then the little boy said,
"We need some vegetables."我們需要一些蔬菜.
The old woman said,
"I have no vegetables."我沒有蔬菜.
The little boy said,
"Let's borrow some vegetables from your neighbour."讓我們跟你的鄰居借一點蔬菜
So the old woman walked to Mrs. Guo's house. 于是,老婦人走到Guo太太的家里
She said,
"Mrs. Guo,may I borrow some vegetables? We have a magic stone that makes delicious soup.Guo太太,你可以借我一些蔬菜嗎?我們有一塊魔石可以做出美味的湯
Mrs. Guo said,"Sure." 當然
Then she said,
"A magic stone!魔石!May I come and have a look?"我可以去看一看嗎?
Mrs. Guo brought some vegetables and put them in the pot. Guo太太借出了一些蔬菜放在鍋里
Then the little boy said,
"We need some chicken."我們需要一些雞肉.
Mrs. Guo said,
"Let's borrow some chicken from Mr. Zhu!" 我們跟Zhu先生借點雞肉吧
Mr. Zhu said,"Sure.".當然可以
Then he said,
"A magic stone!May I come and look?"魔石!我可以看一下嗎
Then the little boy said, "We need some fish."我們需要一些魚肉.
Mr. Zhu said, "Let's borrow some fish from old Mrs. Yang."我們可以跟 Yang太太借點兒魚肉
Old Mrs. Yang said,"Sure. I have some noodles,too.當然.我還有一些面條.Do you want some noodles?"你們想要一些面條嗎? Then she said,
"A magic stone!May I come and look?" 我可以看看魔石嗎
Everyone stood around the pot.大家都圍著鍋站著.
Everyone said, "What a wonderful magic stone!多么神奇的魔石啊!
Is the soup ready yet?"湯好了嗎?
Finally the little boy said,最后,小男孩說
"The soup is ready.Let's eat!"湯好了.我們來喝吧!
The old man and the old woman gave a bowland spoon to everyone. 老人和夫人給了每人一個碗一只勺子.
Soon everyone was eating.很快大家都喝了起來.
Everyone was laughing.每個人都在笑.
Everyone was talking.每個人都在談論.
It was a party!這就是一個聚會!
Everyone said,
"The soup is delicious!"這湯真好喝!
Then the little boy said,"Good-bye."再見
He began walking away.他便開始離開.
Everyone waved and said,大家揮著手說道
"Good-bye!Thank you for your magic stone!" 再見,謝謝你的魔石
Then the old woman suddenly yelled,"Wait!You forgot your magic stone!"你忘了你的魔石!
The little boy stopped.小男孩停了下來.
He said,"No,I didn't. There is no magic stone.根本就沒有魔石.
Look at everyone here.看看這里的每個人.
You are the magic.你們都會魔法.
You will never be hungry if you help each other. 如果你們互相幫助,就永遠不會挨餓

Then the little boy walked away.然后小男孩走了.
