“你還能走路嗎?”巴納老師問道。
"Yes," I whispered. Just let me get out of here, I thought. I'll crawl.
“能。”我低聲說道。只要能讓我離開這里，我想，就是爬我也要爬出去。
Mike seemed eager as he put his arm around my waist and pulled my arm over his shoulder. I leaned against him heavily on the way out of the classroom.
邁克似乎相當熱衷于此，他一只手環(huán)繞在我的腰間，另一只手把我的胳膊拉過他的肩膀。我把重心靠在他身上，一路走出教室。
Mike towed me slowly across campus. When we were around the edge of the cafeteria, out of sight of building four in case Mr. Banner was watching, I stopped.
邁克攙扶著我，慢慢地穿過校園。當我們繞過自助餐廳的一角，走出四號樓里的班納老師的視線范圍——如果他有在看的話——的時候，我停了下來。
"Just let me sit for a minute, please?" I begged.
“讓我在這里坐會兒，好嗎?”我懇求道。
He helped me sit on the edge of the walk.
他扶著我坐到人行道的邊上。
"And whatever you do, keep your hand in your pocket," I warned. I was still so dizzy. I slumped over on my side, putting my cheek against the freezing, damp cement of the sidewalk, closing my eyes. That seemed to help a little.
“還有，不管你要做什么，把你的手放回口袋里。”我警告他。我還是覺得頭暈?zāi)垦?。我向著與邁克相反的方向伏倒身子，把臉貼在冰冷潮濕的人行道水泥路面上，閉上了眼睛。這樣能讓我好受一點。
"Wow, you're green, Bella," Mike said nervously.
“哇噢，貝拉，你看上去臉色發(fā)青。”邁克焦急地說。
"Bella?" a different voice called from the distance.
“貝拉?”另一個完全不同的聲音從遠處傳來。
No! Please let me be imagining that horribly familiar voice.
不!這個熟悉得可怕的聲音可千萬得是我的幻覺。
"What's wrong — is she hurt?" His voice was closer now, and he sounded upset. I wasn't imagining it. I squeezed my eyes shut, hoping to die. Or, at the very least, not to throw up.
“怎么回事——她受傷了嗎?”現(xiàn)在他的聲音更近了，顯得有些煩躁不安。這不是我的幻覺。我緊緊地閉著眼睛，真希望就這樣死掉算了?；蛘?，至少至少，不要吐出來。
Mike seemed stressed. "I think she's fainted. I don't know what happened, she didn't even stickher finger."
邁克顯然感受到了壓力：“我想她有點頭暈。我不知道是怎么回事，她甚至還沒開始扎手指呢。”
"Bella." Edward's voice was right beside me, relieved now. "Can you hear me?"
“貝拉。”現(xiàn)在愛德華的聲音就在我后面，似乎是松了一口氣。“你能聽見我說話嗎?”
"No," I groaned. "Go away."
“聽不見。”我抱怨著。“走開。”
He chuckled.
他輕聲地笑。
"I was taking her to the nurse," Mike explained in a defensive tone, "but she wouldn't go any farther."
“我本想帶她去醫(yī)務(wù)室”，邁克警覺地說，“但她根本走不了。”
"I'll take her," Edward said. I could hear the smile still in his voice. "You can go back to class."
“我能背她去”，愛德華說。我能感覺到他還在笑。“你可以會教室了。”
"No," Mike protested. "I'm supposed to do it."
“不。”邁克抗議道。“這應(yīng)該是我的工作。”

James死后，Edward掙扎要把Bella手腕里的毒液吸出來，以防她變成吸血鬼，但又怕自己不能停下來。隨后，嚴重受傷的Bella被送往醫(yī)院。Bella蘇醒后，Edward為免Bella再受到傷害而提出離開，但Bella深愛Edward，堅持不肯放棄。
