　　A: Could you tell me the significance of these flowers? I want to get the picture.

　　你能給我講講這些話的意義嗎?我想了解一下。

　　B: Lily means beauty. Violet means modesty.Carnation means devoted love.

　　百合代表美麗，紫羅蘭代表謙虛，康乃馨代表忠誠(chéng)的愛。

　　get the picture

　　1. 解詞釋義

　　Get the picture表示明白發(fā)生了什么事情，了解目前的進(jìn)度。短語中的picture是指腦海里對(duì)事情目前的狀態(tài)，情況、事態(tài)的了解。當(dāng)你明白了某件事情或心里對(duì)某事已經(jīng)有了個(gè)大概輪廓的時(shí)候，就可以用get thepicture來表示了。

　　e.g. Luke never tells you the whole story, but you always get the picture.

　　盧克從不告訴你事情的來龍去脈，但你總會(huì)弄明白是怎么回事。

　　e.g. Your wife ran away with your best friend. Now do you get the picture.

　　你的老婆跟你好友私奔了，現(xiàn)在你知道了嗎?

　　e.g.I get the picture you two want to be left alone together.

　　我現(xiàn)在明白了--你們倆想單獨(dú)在一起。

　　e.g. But to get a full picture of what is happening you cannot read the party organ.

　　不過，要了解眼前發(fā)生的事的全貌你不能只讀黨的機(jī)關(guān)刊物。
