　　Pull up stumps的意思是“離開”。它來自于板球運(yùn)動。在板球比賽中，如果10個擊球手都出局了，那么這一輪比賽就結(jié)束了。擊球手出局的條件是三柱們被擊倒——投出的球?qū)㈤T柱上的橫木移掉，或?qū)⒅鶄儚牡刂邪纹?，這就意味著擊球手要出局離開比賽了。因此，pull up stumps在生活中就有了“離開”的意思。還可以表示“需要搬遷 ， 移民 ， 搬家到其他地方”等。
