1. 解詞釋義
美國人把無目的的閑聊比作“向微風(fēng)射擊”。Shoot的意思是“發(fā)射，開槍，開炮”，breeze的意思是“陣陣微風(fēng)”。Shoot the breeze描述的就是幾個朋友在一起隨便聊天，或者一兩位知己清清靜靜地坐著閑聊的情景，這種感覺就如享受在受著微風(fēng)吹拂一樣的愜意。該習(xí)語是第二次世界大戰(zhàn)時期的用語。當(dāng)時候在微風(fēng)中閑聊往事成為軍人上船后或現(xiàn)在留在基地時最喜愛的消遣，尤其是指感傷地思索或述說。對話中“Don’t shoot thebreeze.”的意思就是“叫別人不要閑聊。”
