　　【地道表達(dá)】drink like a fish

　　【解詞釋義】drink like a fish是用來形容人狠狠地喝著飲品，大多數(shù)是指含酒精成分的飲料，如：啤酒，，威士忌等，其意思類似于中國的“牛飲”。所以對話中的“Don’t drink like a fish.”的意思就是“不要狂喝濫飲”。

　　【典型范例】Some people can drink like a fish and handle it.

　　有些人既能豪飲，又能控制酒量。

　　Ps: sign up在對話的意思是“報名”，表示“報名做......”在up后面用上解詞for。例如：

　　He was not the only one to sign up.報名參加的不光是他一個人。

　　Can I sign up for this course in advance?我能事先申請上這一課程嗎?

　　此外，sign up還有“與......簽訂合同”的意思。例如：

　　They manage to sign up all the best performers.他們設(shè)法跟所有最佳演員簽訂合同。

　　【地道表達(dá)】sacred是“神圣”的意思，cow是“牛”，sacred cow的字面意思就是“神圣的牛”。這個說法源于印度的宗教習(xí)慣。但是作為習(xí)慣用語，它的意思是指某個人，或某樣?xùn)|西從來沒有收到批評或嘲笑即便在應(yīng)該收到批評的時候也沒有人敢這樣做，此外，還有一層雷達(dá)不變的習(xí)慣或管理，意即：神圣不可侵犯的習(xí)慣或管理。對話中的“This has become my sacred cow. ”的意思就是“這已經(jīng)成為我神圣不可侵犯的生活習(xí)慣。”

　　從你的讀者來信專欄看，哈羅德 威爾遜好像是個批評不得的人。

　　Ps 1: deadline for something的意思是“......的截止日期”。例如：

　　The deadline for making an application is next Friday.申請于下星期五截止。

　　The boss will really give it to you if you miss the deadline for the job.要是到期完不成工作, 老板就要給你點厲害。

　　Ps 2: keep the habit of的意思是“保持......的習(xí)慣”。例如：

　　He keeps the habit of swimming in winter.他保持冬泳的習(xí)慣。
