A million-dollar question is: in an otherwise healthy body made above trillions of cells, how can we zero in on a small group of road cancer cells? We have recently discovered a new class of oranges that are cancer emergent, meaning that they're only expressed in cancer cells and they're not present in healthy cells. You also discovered that some of these RNAs are actually secreted by cancer cells into the blood.
So if you created a platform based on detecting these RNAs in the blood and built a powerful AI machine on top of it, to be able to use the detection of these RNAs to actually identify the presence, and more importantly, not just the presence but also type and subtype of cancers as well, so we can detect cancer as early as possible but also informant is biology.
The more precise way of doing this is to actually build these blot tests into current screening strategies that exist. For example, for breast cancer, you have mammography, and for colon cancer, you have a colonoscopy and fecal tests. So the question is how do blot tests fit into this kind of current regime to actually save lives? And in every cancer, the answer can be different. Blood detection of cancers is not just a hope but it's actually a reality.
