七 Believe and disbelieve 相信與不相信

1. I can easily believe it. 我很容易就相信。

2. I don't doubt your words. 我相信你的話。

Dialogue 1

M: Have you heard about Alice and David?

Dialogue 7

W: Susan wrote me a letter.

M: What did she say?

W: She got a master's degree, and now she is going for her doctor's degree.

她獲得了碩士學(xué)位，現(xiàn)在她打算去攻讀博士學(xué)位。

M: Really? I can't believe it.

真的嗎?我不敢相信。

W: It's not a surprise, is it? She has always been a hard working student.

M: But I think a master's degree is good enough for a girl.

When I was told that Frank was getting married, I could hardly believe my ears. Because Frank was so satisfied with his free single life that he didn't want to be committed to anyone. So my first response to the news was 'is he really?' But later I was convinced by their romance. Frank met his fiancee on a holiday in Spain. They fell in love almost at the first sight. But the girl was relaxed and independent as he was; therefore, it took quite a while for their relationship to reach that place. If it hadn't been for their story, I wouldn't have believed love at first sight.

當(dāng)我聽說弗蘭克要結(jié)婚了，我簡直不能相信我的耳朵。因為弗蘭克對自由的單身生活很滿意，他不想把自己交給任何人。所以我聽到這個消息的第一反應(yīng)是“他真的結(jié)婚了嗎?”但是他們的愛情故事讓我信服了。弗蘭克在西班牙度假時和他的未婚妻相遇了。他們一見鐘情。但是那個女孩和他一樣無拘無束、獨立;因此，他們的關(guān)系進展到那個地步花了很長一段時間。如果不是因為他們的故事，我是不會相信一見鐘情的。
