頭戴燕尾帽，身穿白制服，語(yǔ)調(diào)溫柔，笑容甜美……提起護(hù)士這一職業(yè)，很多人腦海中都會(huì)浮現(xiàn)出這樣的女性形象。然而在不少醫(yī)院里，也活躍著一群陽(yáng)剛帥氣的男護(hù)士。“5.12”國(guó)際護(hù)士節(jié)到來(lái)之際，讓我們對(duì)他們說(shuō)一聲，感謝有你。

International Nurses Day is celebrated around the world on 12 May each year to appreciate the contributions of nurses towards people's health. The day is held coinciding with the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale.

每年的5月12日是國(guó)際護(hù)士節(jié)，以感謝護(hù)士們?yōu)榱巳藗兊慕】邓冻龅男量?。這一天也是(現(xiàn)代護(hù)理學(xué)科的創(chuàng)始人)弗洛倫斯•南丁格爾(Florence Nightingale)的生辰紀(jì)念日。

1. The Date of May 12 was chosen coinciding with the birthday anniversary of Florence Nightingale, who is considered to be the founder of modern nursing.

國(guó)際護(hù)士節(jié)選在5月12日是為了紀(jì)念現(xiàn)代護(hù)理學(xué)科的創(chuàng)始人弗洛倫斯•南丁格爾，這一天是她的生辰。

2. There is something really interesting about Florence Nightingale's name. She was born in Florence—hence the name. Similarly her sister, Frances Parthenope Nightingale, was born in 'Pathenopolis', a region of Naples.

弗洛倫斯•南丁格爾的名字很有趣，她出生在意大利佛羅倫薩，這就是她名字的由來(lái)。她的姐妹弗朗西斯•帕斯諾普•南丁格爾則出生在意大利那不勒斯的帕斯諾普地區(qū)。

3. Originally, the word 'Nurse' would mean wet nurse, and were employed to breastfeed aristocratic babies.

4. The modern meaning of the word evolved after 'nurses' were referred to any woman who looked after children.

5. In the US military, approximately one-third of all nurses are male.

在美軍中，大約1/3的護(hù)士都是男性。

6. The New England hospital for Women and Children, established in 1862, was the first nursing school in the country.
