“奶牛舔”也是一種發(fā)型

　　注重形象的人出門(mén)前需要花很多時(shí)間打理自己的發(fā)型，不過(guò)有些人的發(fā)型，怎么打理也總是像鳥(niǎo)窩一樣，比如倫敦市長(zhǎng)Boris Johnson。不論怎么打理，總有那么一小撮不聽(tīng)話的頭發(fā)立在那里。這一撮頭發(fā)有個(gè)可愛(ài)的名字——奶牛舔。

　

　　Do you ever fight with your hair? You wash it and comb it and try to get it to look perfect. Just when you think you've succeeded — boing! — an unruly clump of hair stands up as if to shout “Look at me!”

　　你是否曾經(jīng)和頭發(fā)斗爭(zhēng)過(guò)?你洗了頭，梳理整齊想要保持一個(gè)完美發(fā)型。當(dāng)你以為你已經(jīng)把所有頭發(fā)都整理好的時(shí)候，嘭!有一小撮不聽(tīng)話的頭發(fā)豎了起來(lái)，仿佛在喊著：“快看我啊!”

　　Don't worry. You're not alone. Almost everyone has at least one cowlick.

　　別擔(dān)心。又不是只有你這樣。差不多每個(gè)人都至少有過(guò)一次“奶牛舔”的經(jīng)歷。

　　Sometimes they're barely noticeable, but sometimes they're a defining feature.

　　有時(shí)候，這一小撮頭發(fā)不是很顯眼，但有時(shí)候他們會(huì)成為你的標(biāo)志性特點(diǎn)。

　　A cowlick — sometimes called a "hair whorl" — is a small group of hair that either stands straight up or lies in the opposite direction of the way a person wants to comb his or her hair.

　　奶牛舔，有時(shí)也叫頭發(fā)旋，指一小撮立起來(lái)或者朝平時(shí)所梳的發(fā)型反方向突出的頭發(fā)。

　

　　If you've ever spent much time on a cattle farm, you may have noticed that cows have a habit of licking their young. When they do this, their tongues leave a swirling spiral pattern in their hair. The same spiral pattern in human hair has been called a "cowlick" since at least the late 16th century.

　　如果你在養(yǎng)牛場(chǎng)待過(guò)，你應(yīng)該注意到奶牛都喜歡舔她們的幼崽。舔的時(shí)候，她們的舌頭會(huì)在幼崽的毛發(fā)上留下一個(gè)漩渦樣的形狀。那個(gè)形狀跟人類(lèi)頭發(fā)上被稱為“奶牛舔”的形狀一樣，而且，這個(gè)說(shuō)法從16世紀(jì)就有了。
