Brother's girlfriends play a surprisingly large role in season 6 of The Crown.

But it was Ford's own brother's girlfriend who inspired him to audition in the first place. On Friday, Ford shared a carousel of behind-the-scenes images making The Crown on his Instagram, including the What's App exchange that started it all.

His brother's girlfriend sent him a link to a casting call for Prince Harry with the note, "Luther this could be your moment." He replied, "Hahaha, my time has come. I don't know if the resemblance is strong enough." But then, she added, "Doesn't hurt to try."

Those words are also Ford's caption for the post, illustrating how her "wise words" led him to starring on a major Netflix series.

Ford also recently addressed the kismet that led to his casting at an EW and Netflix fan event in New York City. "I was at university," he told EW. "I was studying in Clairmont. And yes, I saw it online, but same as Meg, I hadn't gone to drama school. I had never acted before. I didn't know I was going to be an actor, or that wasn't in the plans. And my brother's girlfriend sent it to me and said, 'You know, why don't you do it? You're a ginger.'"

"I auditioned, I suppose on a whim," he continued. " And then, because it was very late in the process, they'd been looking for quite a long time to find someone. I got cast in about three weeks, and then, we started filming a month later and it's been a year, so it's definitely changed a lot of things."
