The Crown's two Princess Diana actors, Elizabeth Debicki and Emma Corrin, met for the first time on the red carpet for the series finale on Tuesday. The pair shared a hug as their worlds collided at the Royal Festival Hall in London.

Debicki, 33, has been playing the late Princess of Wales on The Crown for the past two seasons, and she is the last Diana fans will see as the Netflix series comes to an end with season 6. She spoke to PEOPLE in November after part 1 of the last season, which is depicting Diana's final months, premiered.

The first installment is told in four episodes and delves into the events surrounding Princess Diana’s tragic death in 1997 alongside love interest Dodi Fayed (played by Khalid Abdalla). Part 2 will be released on Dec. 14 with six additional episodes, focusing on the aftermath of the accident and the future of the monarchy.

“All of the scenes in the lead-up to the end of this season were in a cumulative way — very difficult,” she told PEOPLE exclusively. “We shot them over a number of weeks. I think shooting the sequences where the two characters are being really pursued by the paparazzi was just a really horrible experience. It's very physical.”

As PEOPLE previously confirmed, the impact of the car crash that resulted in Princess Diana’s death will not be shown in The Crown. Executive producers Andy Harries and Suzanne Mackie later stressed at the Edinburgh TV Festival that the scenes depicting the tragedy were approached in a mindful and sensitive way.
